Growth Group

When our life's purpose is based on our relationship with God, we can experience His wholeness and peace through self-care and interconnection to others.  We meet at the church on Tuesdays at 10:00 am

.Spiritual Director

What is spiritual direction?  Spiritual direction is seeking where God is present in your journey.  It involves three people, the directee (seeking God), the spiritual director, (who holds the sacred space and listens for the Holy Spirit), and the Holy Spirit.  Rose has completed the Spiritual Direction program through Christo's Center located in Minnesota in May 2009.  If you desire an appointment with Rose Coulter to engage in spiritual direction, please call the church office, 623-977-8308, for an appointment.  This is not counseling; it is actively seeking God and His call to you in your life.  She will be delighted to discern with you if spiritual direction could be of value for you at this time.

Mom Falls, Now What?

There are many issues facing our parents, spouses, and other loved ones, as they grow older and require specialized care. There is research to be done, questions to be asked, and difficult decisions to be made.

Not long ago, Nurse Minister Rose Coulter's mother fell and fractured her hip in Illinois. Unable to immediately rush to her mother's side, Rose had to manage the case from long distance, using telephone, email, and her experience as a Registered Nurse to find a suitable care facility for her mother's long-term recovery.  Click on the link, Mom Falls, Now What? to read about Rose's decision-making process, and learn the questions you need to consider in a similar situation.

Word Walkers Set For 2200-Mile Jaunt On Route 66

Word Walkers are already on their way, from Chicago to Los Angeles on fabled Route 66,
but there’s still plenty of time to join in the fun and good exercise. On November 2,
the walkers laced up their most comfortable shoes, set their pedometers, and departed
from Grant Park, near Lake Michigan. In reality, they do their walking at the Lakeview
Recreational Center in Sun City every Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:00. They
count miles walked everywhere during the week, as well, and then report their totals to
Don and Ginny Carlson. The Word Walkers’ scribe then prepares a weekly report on the
progress, with tidbits of news from along the way.

It’s a wonderful way to help stay in shape, meet new friends, and get to know old friends better. And all the while, you’ll be reminded of places and things that jog the memory and bring feelings of nostalgia about the days of “yesteryear.” So, with Nat King Cole’s “Get Your Kicks on Route 66,” as a musical backdrop for the trip, join Word Walkers and get in on this exciting journey. Don and Ginny can give you all the details.

ARE WE THERE YET? In a word, NO. But we’re getting there. Keep your chin up, your water bottle handy, and don’t hesitate to pause for a rest now and then. We’re in high country, and the oxygen level at more than 7,000 feet can present a challenge, even to those who think they’re in great shape. From our last location in the midst of the Petrified Forest to our stopping point nine miles shy of Seligman, Arizona, we’ve logged 190 miles (total 1593). Not bad.

Standing on our threshold is the town of Seligman, population 457. It’s quite a contrast from Flagstaff, but none the less interesting. This delightful community retains all the flavor of the “Mother Road.” It’s a trip back in time. As you walk through, keep your eye out for quirky cafes such as the Copper Cart and the 66 Road Kill. Check out the Snow Cap Drive-In—good food and owners who delight in entertaining customers. And be sure to stop at the Route 66 Gift Shop, a mecca today for Route 66 enthusiasts from around the world.
